The Ababil-3 is a surveillance drone utilizing a composite fuselage and equipped with a high resolution camera to take pictures and send them back in real-time to ground control stations or other platforms. The Ababil-3 tactical unmanned air vehicle (TUAV) can fly at a maximum altitude of 15,000-ft (5,000 meters) for over eight 8 hours. This system was developed by Iran under its domestic weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. Iran unveiled the Ababil-3 in November 2014. The drone was employed against Israel from Syria during the military conflict with the Palestinians in May 2021.
